Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman to resign

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has announced his resignation after being indicted for breach of trust.

In an statement he said: "Though I know I committed no crime ... I have decided to resign my post as foreign minister and deputy prime minister," Reuters reported.

Mr Lieberman was charged with breach of trust for allegedly seeking to promote Israel’s former ambassador to Belarus, Ze'ev Ben Aryeh, without reporting that the ambassador had given Mr Lieberman information to about an investigation being conducted into the foreign minister in Belarus.
