Nir and Noa Baranes, both 46, leave behind three children

Nir and Noa Baranes have been named as the victims of a Hezbollah strike yesterday in Golan Heights.

Nir and Noa, both 46, were driving close to their home in Kibbutz Ortal when a rocket hit their car. Magen David Adom said they had been critically wounded by the rocket, and they died shortly after.

The couple leave behind three children, aged 13, 16, and 18. In a statement, the Golan Regional Council called Nir and Noa Baranes “central and beloved members of the kibbutz”. Their loss is a “heavy burden,” for the community, the Council said.

Hezbollah claims the rocket, which hit the couple’s car directly, was intended for a nearby army base.

On Tuesday, 40 rockets crossed into Israeli territory from Lebanon, and fires broke out in eight different locations across the area, according to the Fire and Rescue Authority.

Nir and Noa bring the death tolll of attacks from Lebanon during the war in Gaza to 28, which includes 12 civilians. Tensions between the countries continue to increase.
