A man is hoping to eat more than 100 doughnuts by the end of Chanucah – and raise money for charity in the process.

Elie Klein's now-annual "dough for doughnuts" began two years ago after a bet with a friend.

The Beit Shemesh–based food-lover decided to put his money where his mouth was and last year raised around £5,700 for a binge of 70 doughnuts over the month of Kislev.

This year he has upped the stakes and set himself the challenge of consuming 100 of the oily snacks – filled, covered in sugar or plain – and raising at least £7,600.

A PR worker, he has asked his friends and family top make a pledge to the charity of their choice.

Describing himself as a doughnut "connoisseur" he said the task would be "a feat of gastric proportions".

So far he has managed 16 doughnuts, eight of which had caramel filling.
