(JNS) The Israel Defense Forces on Tuesday confirmed reports that Marwan Issa, the deputy head of Hamas's military wing, was killed in an airstrike in Gaza earlier this month.

"I can confirm that, according to our intelligence...Marwan Issa was killed in an attack that we carried out some two weeks ago, alongside Ghazi Abu Tama'a," said IDF Spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari.

Abu Tama'a, a former head of Hamas's Central Camps Brigade, was tasked with guarding the terror group's entire arsenal.

Last week, U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told reporters during a briefing in Washington that Issa had been killed in an Israeli operation.
