A peace treaty between Israel and Turkey is set to be announced “very soon” after representatives met for talks in London on Thursday.
In a statement released on Friday, Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed “progress” was being made after a breakdown in communication between the countries five years ago.
A spokesman claimed a deal to rebuild diplomatic relations was set to be signed “very soon”.
He said: “The teams made progress towards finalising the agreement and closing the gaps, and agreed that the deal will be finalised in the next meeting which will be convened very soon.”
Israel-Turkey relations broke down in 2010 after the IDF raided a flotilla of ships heading to Gaza. The raid resulted in the death of Turkish nationals.
