Controversial US commentator Glenn Beck spent yesterday in Israel, broadcasting his radio show from the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, and now plans to make a film in the country.

The Fox News host, who has drawn criticism from American rabbis for attacks on businessman George Soros, was banned from visiting Temple Mount after complaints from the Waqf, the Muslim religious Trust. Mr Beck is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and MK Danny Danon. He also visited the Kotel and Yad Vashem.

Mr Beck, a strong supporter of Israel, is a favourite of the nation's Tea Party movement but his daily Fox News show is to be cancelled due to advertisers expressing discomfort about some of his more controversial statements about global warming and President Barack Obama. But his radio show is still syndicated to hundred of American radio networks.

Fox News chief executive Roger Ailes has previously apologised for Mr Beck's extensive use of Holocaust analogies on air. From Mr Obama's inauguration until June 2010, Mr Beck had 202 mentions of Nazis or Nazism, 147 mentions of Hitler, 193 mentions of fascism or fascist, and another 24 mentions of Joseph Goebbels.
