A Charedi newspaper has sparked outrage by appealing in Arabic for terrorists to leave the strictly Orthodox alone.

"We, the Charedi public, have no interest in ascending the Temple Mount at this time," Mishpacha magazine stated, responding to Palestinian fury over Jewish visits to the mount, which is home to the Al-Aqsa mosque. The message was that while some rabbis encourage Jews to visit the mount, there is a "prohibition" against Charedim going until the Messianic era. "So please, stop killing us," said the article.

Israel's Deputy Defence Minister, Eli Ben-Dahan, responded by parodying Hamas. "The resistance accepts your request not to murder Charedim, and asks for the addresses of religious Zionists and secular people in order to murder them," he wrote on his Facebook page.

Yosef Rabin, a right-wing activist who promotes visits to Temple Mount, has called for a boycott of Mishpacha.

Mishpacha's editor, Yossi Elituv, said that the appeal was meant as a literary device to help process the current tensions from a Charedi viewpoint. He admitted that this "wasn't successful".
