BDS activists on Twitter have attacked Bruce Springsteen, trying to prevent him from performing in Israel this summer.
Rumours were sparked earlier this month of ‘The Boss’ coming to Tel Aviv as part of his ‘The River’ tour and although the singer is yet to confirm this and no date has been set, an online campaign against him performing there is in full swing.
The campaign, which uses the hashtag #CancelTelAviv, has targeted both the Born to Run singer and Jennifer Lopez, who is also rumoured to be performing in Israel this summer.
One activist tweeted : #CancelTelAviv @Beyonce, @JLo, @springsteen Don't serve Zionist Masters.#Israel is anti #Jewish

However Springsteen’s bass player Gary Tallent replied to one tweet asking "rock n roll OR selling your soul? Did you ever perform in apartheid South Africa?" with: "I did not. Perhaps we should cancel St. Louis as well," referring to the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson in 2015.
He continued: "Would that shuteth thy mouth? You are railing against a rumour”.
