Israel has imposed a 10-day ban on travel to and from the UK as cases surge in the country.
The UK was added to Israel’s high risk countries list on Friday after new covid-19 regulations were approved on Thursday.
Under the new rules - valid until 9 August - foreigners travelling from the UK will be denied entry to Israel unless they are under-18 and have Israeli parents, serve in the IDF or hold valid visas.
Israelis will be required to self-isolate for seven days upon arrival to Israel even if fully vaccinated or recovered from covid-19.
The travel ban was announced last week but was clouded with uncertainty after a Knesset committee reportedly postponed a vote on the plans on Tuesday.
The Law and Constitution Committee had sought clarity on enforcement and mechanisms to allow travellers to get special authorisations, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Israel has been hit by the highly contagious Delta variant, with 2,165 new cases reported on Thursday.
Measures announced in recent days include a new indoor mask mandate and a “green pass” system barring entry to some indoor and outdoor spaces to unvaccinated people.
