Hazel Irving was born with cerebral palsy -- a neurological condition that affects movement and co-ordination. But she has not let her physical disabilities impede her life.
Miss Irving, 47, has worked at Kisharon for 25 years, making her their most long-standing employee. She was recently honoured by the charity for her services. Kisharon provides support for people with learning difficulties and their families. Miss Irving, who works full-time as accounts administrator, tells People: "Working at Kisharon has taught me that there are families with much tougher circumstances than my own. It has allowed me to give something back."
She started at Kisharon as a part-time receptionist in 1985. Within weeks, she was given a full-time position. "People shouldn't be treated any differently just because they look, move or speak differently."
She hopes to still be working at Kisharon in 25 years time.
