Golders Green underground station was closed for around an hour and the surrounding area cordoned off by police due to an abandoned vehicle this morning.
Commuters and pedestrians had filled the streets around the station, which was closed at around 8.30am.
At around 9am police moved people away from the area, before lifting the security cordon at 9.30am.
Officers said they had been attempting to locate the owner of the vehicle.
Barnet Police said the vehicle was abandoned in Golders Green Road, close to the junction with Hoop Lane.
Eyewitnesses said police had advised people to stay inside and move away from windows.
Specialist teams were said to be on their way. The vehicle was later deemed "non-suspicious".
The Community Security Trust said it was in contact with police and was monitoring the situation.
