An unidentified Golders Green man was arrested on Thursday in connection to an investigation over alleged sexual offences that allegedly occurred in the area in 2022.

The man, 64, currently detained, was taken to a police station in north-west London following the arrest.

It follows an investigation launched by London’s North West Command Unit.

In December, the police were made aware of an interview in which an unnamed woman alleged she had been a victim of sexual offences said to have taken place in London.

On February 21, a 64-year-old man was arrested in connection with an investigation into rape, which is said to have taken place in the Golders Green area in 1993.

This is the same man arrested, but relates to a separate investigation that was reported to police on February 9, 2023.

The man was taken into custody at a north London police station and was then bailed pending further enquiries.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “We would urge women who have been the subject of assault or abuse of any kind to speak to us. You will be listened to and taken seriously, your identity will be protected and specialist officers will be there to support you through the investigation and any subsequent judicial process.”
