A girl believed to be aged 14 is in hospital in "critical condition" following a collision involving a bus in Stamford Hill, London on Monday evening.

Police and ambulance crews were called shortly after 5pm to the junction of Stamford Hill and Amhurst Park to reports of a bus having collided with a traffic light that then fell on two pedestrians.

A girl thought to be aged 14 suffered "life-threatening injuries" in the collision and was rushed to a major trauma centre "as a priority", emergency services said. A second girl of a similar age was also taken to hospital by a Hatzola ambulance crew and is recovering, police said on Tuesday morning.

Their next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the bus stopped at the scene, the Metropolitan Police said. Officers are appealing for anyone with information about the collision to come forward.

No arrests have been made, the force added.

Photos and videos from the area showed a huge emergency service presence as paramedics and police dealt with the crash.
