Gilad Atzmon forced to ask supporters for funds after Campaign Against Antisemitism libel lawsuit

The antisemite said he had been left 'with a huge hole in my pocket'

Gilad Atzmon, the notorious antisemite and Holocaust revisionist, has requested financial help from his supporters, saying losing a libel case the Campaign Against Antisemitism brought against him has left him needing “about £40,000.”

Writing on his website on Monday, Mr Atzmon said losing the case, after he accused the CAA of treating antisemitism as a "business plan", had "left with a huge hole in my pocket".

"Although I am selling some of my musical instruments and have made other arrangements to try to raise the necessary funds, I remain short about  £40.000,” he said.

Mr Atzmon was sued by CAA chairman Gideon Falter, after he accused him of personally profiting from fabricating antisemitic incidents.

In May, after just two hours of argument in a High Court hearing, Justice Matthew Nicklin issued a preliminary ruling saying that Mr Atzmon had deliberately accused Mr Falter of “dishonestly fabricating antisemitic incidents, and deliberately exaggerating the prevalence of antisemitism and antisemitic activity”.

In a statement read out in open court by his lawyer, Mr Atzmon acknowledged the allegation was false and agreed not to republish it and to pay damages to Mr Falter.

Mr Atzmon, whose past statements include "Jewish ideology is driving our planet into a catastrophe" and “I'm not going to say whether it is right or not to burn down a synagogue, I can see that it is a rational act”, requested that his supporters fund him via Bitcoin or Ether, but preferably not Paypal because “I am currently in a dispute with this platform.”

Mr Falter said: “Through this pioneering lawsuit, a notorious antisemite has had to pay tens of thousands of pounds in legal fees and damages for his libel.

“Now Mr Atzmon is having to go cap in hand begging his supporters to bail him out. In doing so, he is spreading the message for us that antisemites will be made to suffer ruinous consequences for their actions.”
