Gang who terrorised Hampstead residents sent to prison

articlemain

Three men who committed a series of armed robberies last year targeting homeowners in north-west London have been jailed.

Corrie Moroney, 23, Ellis Parkinson, 21, and Alan Fitzgerald, 20, spent three months terrorising residents around Hampstead Heath.

They wielded a hammer, stun gun and knife to intimidate them into handing over their possessions.

Among the gang’s victims was celebrity chef Annabel Karmel, who was targeted by the trio as she got out of her car in St John’s Wood.

They approached her on mopeds and stole her handbag, as well as a £16,000 Rolex watch.

Blackfriars Crown Court on Friday heard how the three men, who are from Tufnell Park and Holloway, frequently targeted victims wearing Rolex and Cartier watches and carrying expensive mobile phones, handbags and designer purses.

The gang were caught and arrested in June after police officers studied CCTV footage and used witness reports to identify them. They were sentenced to a total of 23 years’ imprisonment.
