Mourners gathered to attend Lord Janner’s funeral on Monday afternoon.
The former Labour peer was laid to rest at a United Synagogue cemetery in Willesden, north-west London, in front of family, friends and colleagues from the community. One mourner estimated that there were around 300 people in attendance.
Fellow veterans from the Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and Women (Ajex) were also in attendance. Lord Janner served in the army and later acted as president of the association.
The father-of-three, who was Board of Deputies president from 1978-84 and was Labour MP for Leicester West for 27 years, died on Saturday at the age of 87.
At the time of his death, there was still a legal case investigating claims against him relating to historic child abuse, but a series of judges had ruled he was not fit to stand trial.
