Auschwitz survivor Freddie Knoller is doing his bit to ensure the atrocities of the Holocaust are never forgotten.
Mr Knoller, 88, is organising a March of the Living 2010 (MOL). Together with Scott Saunders, he will be leading a delegation of British children and adults to Warsaw, Maidanek, Lublin and Kracow.
Last year, Vienna-born Mr Knoller was invited by the Austrian government to join a group of non-Jewish children from Austria on the March of the Living 2009. He tells People: “I went together with my wife and there were 7,000 students from every Western country who joined survivors to march the 3km from Auschwitz to Birkenau. I was amazed that there was no British representation and promised myself that I would organise for a group from the UK to go.”
He adds: “I feel the youngsters need to know what happened during this tragic period. The mission of the MOL is to educate people about the Holocaust and to fight those who deny its history.”
Mr Knoller is the author of Living with the Enemy.
