Francesca Segal wins $100,000 prize for The Innocents

British author Francesca Segal has won the prestigious Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish literature in fiction for her debut novel The Innocents.

The prize, which is awarded by the New York Jewish Book Council , is worth $100,000 (£66,000).

Thirty-two-year-old Ms Segal, who is the daughter of Love Story author Erich Segal, has already won several accolades for The Innocents, which is set in the Jewish community of Temple Fortune, north London. They includ e the 2012 Costa First Novel Award and the 2012 National Jewish Book Award for fiction.
