A football fan was fined yesterday for having shouted antisemitic abuse at a Tottenham Hotspur player.

Aston Villa supporter Terry Douglas pleaded guilty to racially aggravated abuse after police officers overheard him call the unnamed footballer a Jewish c*** during a Premier League match.

The offence took place during the Villa Park match on Boxing Day last year.

Mr Douglas, 31, admitted the charge at Birmingham Magistrates' Court yesterday and was fined £290.
