Food for thought on ambassador's first visit

articlemain

Israeli Ambassador Daniel Taub met leaders of the strictly Orthodox community this week in the first ever official visit by the country's top diplomat to Stamford Hill.

He toured a Jewish Care centre, the Yesodei Hatorah school and the Kol Boniach outreach group which helps teenagers at risk in north London.

It was hoped the visit would strengthen relations between the strictly Orthodox community and Israeli representatives in Britain.

Mr Taub said: "I have seen the way in which this community care for their elderly and disadvantaged and the education of their youth.

"This was an opportunity to continue an important dialogue with the community, to ensure an ongoing relationship, and to create a meaningful partnership in connecting to Israel."

Rabbi Osher Schapiro, founder of Kol Boniach, said: "I feel the Ambassador felt at home here in Stamford Hill We look forward to further engaging with him."
