Ex-Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay accused over racist text messages

articlemain

Former Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has been reported to the FA after a series of racist and homophobic text messages were found by police, according to the Daily Mail.

Referring to Jewish football agent Phil Smith, a text from his phone said: “Go on fat Phil. Nothing like a Jew that see money slipping through his fingers”.

He is also thought to have described Israeli club, Maccabi Tel Aviv as simply “the Jews”.

The manager, who was expected to take the vacant manager’s job at Premier League club Crystal Palace, has also been accused of making offensive comments towards black people, a South Korean player and a woman football agent.

Crystal Palace appeared on the verge of hiring Mr Mackay but pulled out of the deal.

The messages were recovered by police after a raid on the home of Crystal Palace’s former director of football, Ian Moody in connection with an investigation into player transfers.
