Five News's Emma Slifkin is about to embark on probably her most exciting project yet.
Mrs Slifkin, a package producer at the channel who has twice reported on the Oscars, is going to South Africa to cover the football World Cup.
Although not such a footie fan, she admits she cannot wait, telling People: "The Oscars were amazing and, until now, my favourtie trip. But this will be an incredible experience and an opportunity to travel to a country that I have never been to before."
Mrs Slifkin, 31, recently completed a week's residential hostile environment and emergency training course to learn how to
react in any war-type scenarios.
During the South Africa trip, she will be putting together special feature packages and coming up with ways of making traditional news coverage more original.
The north Londoner has been working as a producer at Five for the past five years, having started as a junior when Five News was part of ITN.
She has since met Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Tom Cruise, among a host of other high profile names.
She says: "I love the mix and variety that I get. Even when I am not working
on a special report, I never know what I will be working on from one day to the next.
"It's great beacuse you don't get the chance to get bored."
Mrs Slifkin is married to David FitzGerald. She leaves for South Africa on Sunday June 6.
