Teenagers Emma and Jonathan Delin are paying a fitting tribute to their father, who died suddenly of a heart attack last year, by putting on a concert in his memory.
Paul Delin collapsed last May after a game of tennis. He was 44. Just two days earlier, the family was celebrating after Jonathan and Emma's mother Karen received the all-clear after suffering from a rare cancer, sarcoma.
Emma, 16, and Jonathan, 14, are both pupils at King Solomon High School in Essex.
Jonathan tells People: "My dad was really into music - he played the guitar - so that is why we chose to do a concert. We thought it would be a great thing to do and a way to remember his musical talent."
The family has sold around 300 tickets with proceeds being split between The Sarcoma Trust and the British Heart Foundation. Emma, who is studying for her A-levels, says: "We wanted to raise the money for the charities that were closest to us and in memory of dad. Dad had a great passion for music and we have got a lot of close friends who are good at music and playing instruments so it was a good way for us to involve them."
Emma and Jonathan both play in the Jewish Lads' & Girls' Brigade (JLGB) Redbridge band.
