Labour leader Ed Miliband is expected to make an official visit to Israel within the next three months, the JC can reveal.
The trip is scheduled to be one of the Opposition leader’s first major foreign trips and will come a year before the General Election.
Mr Miliband is also due to be the keynote speaker at the Community Security Trust’s annual dinner in London next month.
Last week, Sir Trevor Chinn led a Jewish Leadership Council-hosted private dinner with the politician.
A Labour spokesman said the evening had been “excellent and an opportunity to engage with the Jewish community leadership on a number of issues”.
He would not comment on Mr Miliband’s travel plans, “for security reasons”.
Labour Friends of Israel is understood to be assisting the Labour leader’s office in planning details for the Israel trip.
Sources suggested this week that the Jewish-born politician had worked hard in recent months to improve his understanding of the community and its concerns.
