Dictator star Sacha Baron Cohen enjoys London premiere

Sacha Baron Cohen walked the red carpet last night dressed as his alter-ego, Admiral General Aladeen, for the London world premiere of his latest film "The Dictator".

Forsaking black tie, the comic renowned for his risqué publicity stunts strutted down the celebrity-filled carpet in red platforms, military uniform, and a gold gun that he later placed on the head of Harrods owner Mohamed Fayed.

Followed by diamond-glad guards in miniskirts, the character loosely based on Colonel Gaddafi and Saddam Hussain told reporters that he was forced to premiere his film at London's Royal Festival Hall as he was now banned from entering America.

"Normally when I see red carpet, it's because I have beheaded someone in my living room," the General quipped.

The character also revealed his relationship with Britain's ruling elite. "I just paid £300 to the Tory club and they said I can have dinner with David Cameron," he said. "Everybody has a price but Cameron's is just cheaper than the rest. For that they are also throwing in a foot massage from Mr Clegg."

Posing with Mr Fayed, he said: "We have a lot in common. We were both friendly with Lady Diana. To cut a long story short, I am the father of Prince Harry.

"From his mother he gets the fair complexion and from me he gets his enjoyment of dressing as a Nazi."

The actor arrived in the back of an orange Lamborghini, which was towed by a truck and stocked with Harrods shopping bags. The leader of the Republic of Wadiya told fans: "Death to the West. I'm sorry I'm late. I was doing some shopping at British Home Stores and I got clamped."

According to Twitter users, Mr Baron Cohen's wife, actress Isla Fisher, was allegedly almost refused entry after bouncers failed to recognise her.
