Singer-songwriter David Mirga has the most important gig of his life on Sunday - he is through to the second round of the Live and Unsigned competition, which aims to find new musical talent.
Thousands auditioned for the contest and Mr Mirga, 27, from Hatch End, can't quite believe he got through the first round. "I don't even know what comes next," he tells People. "I'm just concentrating on one round at a time." The winner of the competition gets a management contract and £30,000. Mr Mirga was born in the Czech Republic and moved to London with his family when he was 17. Joining a band helped him adjust. "Music is an international language," he said.
His ambition is to earn his living through music. "I'd love to write songs for the big stars. If I could give up my job in a call centre and spend all my time making music, that would be my dream come true."
