David Cameron has written to outgoing Israeli ambassador Daniel Taub to thank him for his diplomatic work during four years in Britain.
The Prime Minister said Mr Taub had played a “crucial role” in improving ties between the countries.
In a hand-written note at the end of the letter, Mr Cameron thanked the ambassador for “the many kind things you have said about me”.
Mr Taub is due to end his ambassadorship in the coming weeks before taking up a role dealing with Israel's international legal challenges - at the International Criminal Court and at the United Nations, and opposing the boycott movement.
