Radio presenter David Baker has been named Wedding DJ of the Year.
Mr Baker, who hosts a primetime show on Ireland's Spirit Radio, was honoured with the national title by weddingsonline.ie, Ireland's leading site for brides and grooms.
Mr Baker, 46, has been DJing for 20 years, specialising in weddings. He also does barmitzvahs. He tells People: "I love the buzz and all the planning that goes into an event. I work hard with the couples on choosing the music. Entertainment and music can make or break the night."
The former Irish Daily Star's DJ of the Year says his favourite music is "easy listening - something like Magic 105.4. I love a bit of Simply Red." He was picked as the winner by a panel of judges including Gavin Duffy of Ireland's Dragons' Den television show on RTE, and media entrepreneur Krishna Day. "The award means a lot as there was a lot of competition. Now I need to get the ball rolling to retain it in 2012."
Based in Dublin, where he is a member of the city's Progressive Synagogue, Mr Baker spent more than 15 years living in Essex.
