Teenagers Ariella Midgen and Danielle Hill have been selected to play for Scotland's under-19 lacrosse team.
Glasgow-born Danielle (left), 18, and team-mate Ariella, 16, whose mother is Glaswegian, will compete in their first major tournament this weekend - the under-19 Home Internationals. Then there are the World Championships in Germany in August, plus a ten-day tour in the United States.
Danielle and Ariella both live in Radlett, Herts, and are pupils at Haberdashers in Elstree, where they play for the school's first team.
Danielle tells People: "Lacrosse is still a minority sport in this country, mainly played at private schools. It is not even an Olympic sport because not enough countries play it but it's huge in the US and Canada."
Danielle plays wing defence, while Ariella is goalkeeper. She says: "I love playing lacrosse - it's exhilarating and gives you a real adrenalin rush. It is great for the development of the all-important team skills."
