Daniel Turek represents Britain in a global event for the Scouts

articlemain

At 18 years old, Daniel Turek is too old to be a participant in the World Scout Jamboree taking place in Sweden next July, but the Immanuel College pupil is over the moon to have been picked to represent the UK as a member of the service crew.

He was picked from thousands of hopefuls to take his place among the 6,000-strong International Service Team that will help create the Jamboree - an international gathering which will bring together 30,000 scouts from all over the world. Daniel, who took part in the 2007 World Jamboree, tells People: "It will be another amazing experience, which this time will also be an exciting challenge."

He will need to be prepared to turn his hand to any task, even though he will be one of the youngest members of the team.

For Daniel, who lives in Herts, scouting is a family affair. He is a leader at the 11th Edgware group, which meets at Edgware United Synagogue. His sister, Rachel, 14, is also a member. Their mother, Susan, is the group's Akela (club leader).

Daniel is a pupil at Immanuel College, Bushey.
