Daniel Cowen can help if you feel a right Tweet

Ever posted something on Facebook or Twitter and wished you hadn't? Fear not. You can now delete the unwanted or embarrassing message thanks to a novel new iPhone app created by corporate lawyer Daniel Cowen.

Called Last Night Never Happened (LNNH), it enables you to delete multiple posts from your social networking accounts, including photos, comments, tweets, and direct messages. You can even replace the deleted text or picture with something more appropriate.

Mr Cowen, 29, tells People how he came up with the idea, based to some extent on his own experiences. "I was on a trip and my friends and I were all checking our Facebook profiles and moaning about how many regrettable moments end up on there. I mooted the idea of an app but it lay dormant for a few months until I was discussing it with my friends in Hong Kong. The consensus was that it was a great name and a catchy idea (and yes, I have certainly had a few nights I would rather erase - both in London and Hong Kong)."

London-born, Mr Cowen has been living in Hong Kong for work for the past three-and-a-half-years. He teamed up with his best friend there, plus Israeli developers 22Seeds, to create the app, which costs $1.99 to download.

Launched at the end of March, it is already making international headlines, being reported in the Sun newspaper in the UK and on television networks ABC and Fox 4 in America. It is also being blogged about across the globe, including in India, and has been featured on television in the Netherlands and Canada. "It has clearly struck a chord with the media. There are some definite themes that have emerged such as the increasing relevance of privacy and control over your own data. I think a large part of the attention is also because the app is fun."
