Dame Maureen Lipman has designed a T-shirt that she hopes to sell to raise money for Ukrainian refugees.
The actress, 75, shared with the JC this exclusive picture of her wearing the garment, which features the blue and yellow colours of the Ukrainian flag.
She said: “I am appalled by Putin’s icy self-interested cruelty. I feel agony and despair for the valiant Ukrainians.”
Dame Maureen designed the picture on her iPad and had it transferred on to a T-shirt by custom printing company Bags of Love.
“I would love to market the shirts to raise money for the Ukraine crisis if anyone can help," she said.
Speaking of Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, Dame Maureen added: “He has won our love, admiration and respect.”
She also praised the wider Jewish community’s response to the refugee crisis.
“Rabbi Jonathan Romain is doing sensational work,” she said.
“I would happily send the original painting to anyone who wanted to have a T-shirt printed if they would send a donation to Jonathan’s charity.”
