Culture Club founding member Jon Moss will be paid £1.75 million by his former bandmates to end a legal battle after he claimed they “expelled” him.
The drummer had been due to take his ex-bandmates, Boy George, guitarist Roy Hay and bassist Mikey Craig to court next week over a dispute about the group’s earnings.
The purpose of the six-day High Court trial due to take place next week was to determine the profits made by the band since Moss’s alleged expulsion
A six-day High Court trial in London had been scheduled to determine the amount of money Moss may be entitled to based on the band’s profits since 2018.
But a court order published on Tuesday said the band had agreed to end the dispute and a judgement be made in favour of Moss, who will now be paid £1.75 million immediately. As part of the order, Moss will relinquish any right to the Culture Club brand including in connection with any merchandise and concerts.
The High Court trial was also due to cover Moss’s additional claim of an “outstanding balance” of $246,000 under the terms of a band agreement around its 2018 Life Tour.
Jon Moss was raised in a Jewish home by his adoptive parents Loretta and Lionel Moss after being born at the Clapham Jewish Boys Home in south London. He attended Arnold House primary school and the Highgate School where he formed his first band and discovered his talent for music.
