A child whose Barmitzvah present of a bicycle was stolen from under him will be able to replace it, after the public raised £1,000 for him in under a day.

Chezky Worch, 13, had his new bike taken from him in Cheetham Hill, north Manchester, on Monday, despite putting up a brave struggle against the two thieves.

But by Tuesday, an online fundraising campaign set up by his mother Brocho had reached its target, with the total currently standing at £1,280.

Nearly 100 people have contributed to buying the barmitzvah boy a new bicycle.

His mother thanked donors for their support, writing on the fundraising page: “We are very proud of his courage, and knowing there are so many kind people who care for him”.

She continued: “I don't even have the words to describe how he feels. It will always stay with him, for life. Chezky shall have his bike back and put this horrid ordeal behind him. Thank you.”
