Youth duo for Bowdon

articlemain

South Manchester Synagogue, Bowdon, has appointed its first youth rabbi.
Rabbi Dan Lieberman, 22, and his wife Liat, 21, will be moving to Bowdon at the end of July and will be working with Bowdon’s Rabbi Yitzhak Rubin while developing educational programmes for the shul’s children.

Rabbi Lieberman, a former Manchester Jewish Grammar pupil, said he was “looking forward to creating a vibrant environment for the youth of Bowdon”.

The couple met in South Africa while Rabbi Lieberman was studying for his rabbinical ordination and his wife was teaching at Beis Yaakov High Shool.

Rabbi Rubin, who took part in interviews, said: “This couple will be more than able to reach out to our young.”
John Sless, president of the 550-member Bowdon, said: “The future of our community is our youth and we are delighted to be able to add a resource to develop this area.”
