There was music in the air at Bushey’s Immanuel College as 12-year-old saxophonist Louis Isaacs practised for his performance in the finals of Emunah’s Young Musician of the Year.

The showcase finale for the annual JC-sponsored contest will this year be at London’s Royal Academy of Music on March 9, with cash prizes courtesy of Wienerworld.

Alongside the main event is a prize for young musical theatre singer of the year for which Immanuel has also supplied three finalists — Natasha Fisch, 14, Alana Bain, 13 and Brady Isaacs Pearce, 13.

Also among the singers is Hertsmere Jewish Primary pupil Ilan Galkoff, 10, who has played Gavroche in Les Miserables. For the heats, he dressed up in costume to perform a song from Oliver.
