articlemain

Tributes have been paid to a Manchester woman who was killed when she was crushed by a gate.

Myra Goldman, 68, died when the gate of a business park fell on her on Sunday while she was working at her flower business in Whitefield, north Manchester.

The mother-of-three, who was a long-standing member of the Sha’arei Shalom North Manchester Reform Congregation, also leaves behind a husband, Cyril.

Sha’arei Shalom’s Rabbi Norman Zalud said: “Myra was a very kind and gentle lady, loved by the congregation. She was very knowledgeable about flowers and plants and looked after those in the synagogue. Her death was a tragedy and she will be desperately missed.”

Greater Manchester Police said it was investigating the death alongside Bury Council. A spokesperson said: “On arrival, officers discovered a 68-year-old woman with severe head injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“At this time, there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances. However, Greater Manchester Police will be working alongside partner agencies to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.”
