Wizo celebrates North Cheshire's 50th

articlemain

North Cheshire Wizo's 50th anniversary celebration reunited 14 of the group's 17 chairwomen. Among them was Sally Weinstein, now living in America, who came over from New York.

In her legal work, she represents American women who have been victims of domestic violence and she spoke about Israeli charities supporting abused women.

Another former chair, Charlotte Gringras, told 120 guests that in the course of the group's history, Israel had gone from a needy child to a "stroppy teenager" trying to find its position in the world. Other speakers were June Rosen, Maurice Travers and Rae Ingleby.

It was a double celebration for hosts Valerie and Gordon Harris, coinciding with their golden wedding.
