Winchester first for campus chaplain

articlemain

University of Surrey Jewish chaplain Alexander Goldberg has become the first Jew to give an address at Winchester Cathedral in 900 years.

He spoke on “Disputation to dialogue”, calling for a renewal in Anglican-Jewish dialogue.

He said that although advances had been made since the Second World War, “in recent years it seems that sometimes we have run into trouble not so much due to the particular issues but more to do with the fact we have forgotten how to speak to each other”. He also blew the shofar.
