Regarded as the elite indoor event for masters athletes, the tournament at Lee Valley Stadium saw 85-year-old Roger Bruck take gold in all three of his events – 200 metres, 60 metres and high jump. The latter win was all the more notable for the former Maccabiah and European Maccabi Games champions as he broke the British record in doing so, meaning he is now British record holder in two events – he was also part of the record-breaking GB relay squad at last year’s World Masters Championships in Sweden. He has also won the British age group title in the high jump on 24 successive occasions.

Multi-eventer, 63-year-old Rosalind Zeffertt, is improving with age. Like so many Jewish athletes, she learnt her trade with Shaftesbury Harriers at the StoneX stadium, and her leap of 2.30 in the pole vault secured her top spot for her age group. She claimed bronze two years ago in Torun, Poland, at the World Masters Indoor championships.

Gerry Lustig, 77, helped himself to two medals, claiming silver in the draining indoor 400 metres, and taking bronze in the 60 metres.
