South London’s first Jewish primary school now has its official name, Mosaic JPS, which will be reflected in its logo, uniform and website. The announcement comes in the week local authorities in the area are offering places to the first group of reception children who will join Mosaic when it opens in Wimbledon in September.

Mosaic was selected for reflecting the school’s Jewish and inclusive ethos and its core principles of respect, inspiration and excellence.

Head teacher designate Kate Baum said: “Each stone in a mosaic is crucial to the whole. If any stone is missing, the whole is incomplete and each stone is bonded with its neighbour. This is how we feel about the pupils and families in our school.”
