A piece of iconic clothing worn by the late Sir Jimmy Savile and successfully bid for by Leeds fundraiser Stuart Levin at a recent auction will once again be put under the hammer.
Mr Levin will be going for gold at an auction at Make a Dream’s annual gala dinner to raise money for Yorkshire’s sick and terminally ill children. His wife Francine founded the charity in 1994.
The Leeds businessman picked up the Jim’ll Fix It presenter’s famous gold track suit at a recent auction sale when thousands of Sir Jimmy’s possessions were sold for charity. Sir Jimmy died last October aged 84.
The suit went at a hammer price of £550 and Mr Levin reckons he got a bargain. He expects to make four times that amount at the November gala, as interest grows from collectors.
“It was touch and go whether my bid would be successful because there was stiff competition,” he said. “But if necessary I would have gone much higher. It is an iconic piece of Jim’s flamboyant wardrobe and it will take centre stage as a star lot in my auction.”
Television tough guy actor Ross Kemp will also be a star attraction at the gala dinner.
