Shabbat UK: Enjoying their free time

articlemain

Bushey Synagogue's leadership applied the principle of "the best things in life are free" to maximise involvement in Shabbat UK.

Explained Bushey chair Stephen Roston: "Members are asked to pay out for almost everything connected with the shul. But we thought, 'no, not this time'. I and my fellow honorary officers felt it was not right to ask members to participate in an event led by the Chief Rabbi's office and then charge for the privilege. The result was our most successful event ever.

"More than 400 adults and over 100 young people and children were in shul from shachrit to havdalah.

"We believe in coming together as a community and you cannot buy that."
