Scroll down memory lane

Members of a young professionals' minyan at Edgware Synagogue have raised more than £2,000 to restore a scroll from the defunct Hammersmith Synagogue for use in Shabbat services.

When the Menucha Ve'Simcha congregation decided at Rosh Hashanah that it wanted to dedicate its own Sefer Torah, a Just Giving page was set up by its minister, Rabbi Avrohom Zeidman, who encouraged every member to donate £20. By Yom Kippur the money had been raised. US community liaison manager David Collins said: "We are delighted to bring a Sefer Torah from a shul that closed many years ago to a new vibrant community."
