Schools' plans go before DfE

articlemain

Proposals for two new Jewish free schools in the Elstree area have reached the final interview stage at the Department for Education to determine whether they will be given the green light to proceed.

The LL Group wants to open a pluralist primary for 420 children. Yavneh College in Borehamwood has revived plans for a two-form entry primary section.

Ben Lewis and Tal Landsman of the LL project said: "This is a really exciting time for both the whole community and us.

"We have worked incredibly hard to get to this point and are really looking forward to this opportunity to provide a new primary school for children in Elstree and Borehamwood which will be inclusive."

If the DfE gives the go-ahead, the intention is to open in September 2016.

Beyond confirming the progress of its application, Yavneh declined to comment.
