Jewish Housing Association's sheltered accommodation development Queenshill Lawn has been re-dedicated in memory of local welfare chief Sheila Saunders.

From 1987-2010, Ms Saunders was chief executive of Leeds Jewish Welfare Board and Leeds Jewish Housing Association. She was known for her dynamic, no-nonsense approach.

Unveiling a plaque on Sunday, Fabian Hamilton, MP, said that "every so often in a lifetime somebody comes along and inspires you. When they are gone you miss them greatly."

Ms Saunders "threw everything into her work for welfare and housing. It was never ever about Sheila."
