'Retired' Grunewald keeps on going

articlemain

Rabbi Yaacov Grunewald is continuing his involvement at Pinner Synagogue despite having formally retired in October after 34 years in the pulpit.

The synagogue has announced that while the search for Rabbi Grunewald's successor is conducted, he will fulfil pastoral duties, visiting the sick and being available to answer members' questions on religious issues.

"Our search for a new rabbi is progressing well," said Pinner chair Howard Lewis. "However, we were always aware that we might need someone to help us with pastoral care in the interim period."

With Rabbi Grunewald held in high regard by the congregation, "it seemed natural that rather than us having to consider making a temporary appointment, he should carry on dealing with people he had known for many years".
