Residents' objections are delaying plans for a north Manchester eruv.
The 13-mile religious boundary designed to run through three boroughs has already received planning permission from the Manchester and Bury councils.
But objections by around three dozen local residents have delayed a decision by Salford Council, which had been expected to grant approval this month. A council planning committee meeting will now make a decision in mid-December.
Eruv organisers had to submit amended plans last week to move two poles a few metres along Oaklands Road in Salford after a resident complained of their proximity to the rear of his house. It is the only change to plans for 17 pairs of poles in Salford.
A Salford planning office representative said the objection letters raised "various issues. We've also received in excess of 400 responses from supporters of the plans."
The eruv committee's Rabbi Yehuda Brodie hoped a meeting with concerned residents would allay any fears. "A lot of the objections are not on planning grounds. People are simply unsure what an eruv is."
