The prime minister’s wife has said it was “wonderful” to welcome children from Rosh Pinah Primary School for a writing workshop at 10 Downing Street.
Five children from Year 6 were selected by the Edgware school teachers to take part in Lessons at 10, where they participated in a session with pupils from two other schools.
Posting afterwards on Instagram, Akshata Murty wrote: “Wonderful to welcome schools this morning for the first session of the new term.

“The team from the @thebankofdreamsandnightmares got our literary juices flowing in one of their dynamic creative writing and reading workshops."
Rosh Pinah pupil Ella said that she had felt “overwhelmed and excited” to go to the prime minister’s residence and the workshop had taught her “how to increase my imagination”.

Fellow pupil Samuel told the JC: “I was always curious about what it was like inside [10 Downing Street] and always tried to look through the door on the television. I was very honoured to go where all the prime ministers have lived.”
Headteacher Jill Howson said afterwards: “We were absolutely delighted to be invited to Number 10 Downing Street to participate in the workshop.
“When I first told the children they had been chosen, they were completely silent as they couldn't quite believe it. Needless to say, [they] had a fantastic time and will cherish the memory of this day forever.”
