Supporters of a Pinner eruv are celebrating the unanimous approval of plans for the religious boundary by Harrow councillors.
It will cover all of Pinner within Harrow borough, most of Hatch End and much of north Harrow. It is expected to be operational next spring.
The go-ahead from Harrow is the culmination of a seven-year campaign by members of Pinner's United synagogue.
Ian Abrahams, who has led the Pinner Eruv Company charity, said the decision had been "a relief. My team and I are very pleased.
"It brings us into line with the other communities in the borough and we think it will be a great boon. Hopefully it will be another attraction for people to move into a really nice area and a great community."
He added that immediately following the decision, "we sent an email to all our members. Lots of people got back to us. They were happy."
